Wild Parsnip Notice

posted Jun 10, 2016, 6:26 AM by Susan Zientek
Wild Parsnip is an invasive plant that is increasingly common in the City of Ottawa. The sap from wild parsnip can cause skin irritation and make the skin prone to burning and blistering when exposed to the sun. You'll find this plant in open areas, roadsides and pathways, in fields and wherever weeds grow. It is best to avoid this plant when possible, however if you do get sap on exposed skin wash the area immediately and seek medical attention if irritation develops.  For more information about wild parsnip please visit www.ottawa.ca or call 613-580-6744.
