Dear Corpus Christi Community,
It's been wonderful getting to know so many students and families over the course of September! I feel so blessed to be a part of this community. As the autumn leaves begin to turn, I'd like to take a moment to look back on what has been a truly wonderful first month of school. The energy, joy, and enthusiasm brought by our students, staff, and families have set a positive and uplifting tone for the entire school year ahead.
Our First Liturgy of the School Year: We gathered as a faith community for our opening liturgy, coming together in prayer, reflection, and song to ask for blessings on the upcoming academic year. Thank you Ms Wong and Ms Hollander for taking the lead on this!
Garden Harvest: It is a joy to watch our students working in the school garden and harvesting fresh vegetables. Hands-on learning experiences like these remind our children of the beauty of growth and stewardship.
Schoolyard Joy & Recess Fun: The school yard has been buzzing with life! From happy children enjoying games together to friendly soccer matches on the field and spirited Uno championships in my office, our students have demonstrated fantastic school spirit and camaraderie.
Le Jour des Franco-Ontariens: On September 25th, our school turned green and white to celebrate Franco-Ontarian culture. The energy reached an all-time high during our all-school recess dance party!
Truth and Reconciliation Week: Throughout this week, our school community engaged in meaningful reflections, daily special prayers, and thoughtful announcements. On September 30, our school community wore orange shirts and gathered together virtually through special morning announcements to honor residential school Survivors, remember the children who never returned home, and reaffirm our collective commitment that Every Child Matters. Teachers extended the learning in their classrooms through art, stories and important conversations.

We have a bittersweet announcement as we say must say goodbye to our wonderful Office Administrator, Ms. Sindy. She has accepted a new position at St. Rita School, which will allow her to be closer to her home and family, with an earlier end-of-day time that better fits her family's needs. While she is deeply sad to leave our school community, we are immensely grateful for everything she has brought to our school. We wish her all the absolute best in her new chapter. St. Rita is incredibly lucky to have her!
Ms Sindy's last day will be October 9th. After this, we will welcome a new office administrator, to be announced future messaging.
Excitement is building across all grades as we prepare for our annual Terry Fox Run/Walk on October 7th! We also have a spirit day called "Socks for Fox" on October 6th. Students are invited to wear fun or mismatched socks to get the excitement going for our walk the next day. To make fundraising extra fun this year, a special challenge has been issued: If our school community raises $1,000 for cancer research, I will sing a song in front of the entire school! Let's work together to reach our goal and support this vital cause. Donate here!
We continue to collect non-perishables for our Thanksgiving Food Drive. All food will be donated to the Centretown Community Food Bank. Thank you to all who have contributed thus far!
